Shades of My Diaspora
Exhibition May 1st to TBA
One of the ponderous aspects in this second life we immerse ourselves in is the fact that we can be anything. Human, anthromorph, a robot ,or even a little green bird who turns out to be the very best landlord. Here the politics and race relations of many of our first lives wash away and we can find a slice of peace. Even with this peace, one still may find a want or need to reach out to their culture, wanting to celebrate it through the creativity of so many amazing SL creators.
This exhibition was created to show the colors of my diaspora. As an African American in my first life, I wanted to take some time to shine light on the array of hues in my community. Studying the faces of Black women, the bone structure evolved over millennia, the hair textures, the highlights of the darkest cheekbone, and the golden freckles on the wide nose of the albino tone. I wanted to celebrate the beauty I grew up with, the beauty of my family and community
